Summit Manor Nursing Home
For the past month I have been volunteering at the local nursing home on Mondays and Wednesdays. While I am there I help the Activities Director with Bingo. When there isn't I musical group planned, I help lead the sing-alongs. I have also helped with various other activities like ball toss and decorating the dining area for the fall season. I have been assigned people to visit on a regular basis, and I have enjoyed talking and visiting with them. I enjoy my visits to the nursing home, and I'm making new friends.
Malvina Farkle Day
It's Malvina Farkle Day! This is always a very exciting day. After waking up at the crack of dawn, my roomie and I went out for a morning of community service. We participated in the Rotary Club Walk Around The World. We walked at the Christian Life Center. All in all it was a great day.

Weeks 1 and 2
I am a new Bonner this year at Lindsey Wilson College. I have chosen the Summit Manor Nursing Home as my main sight. I've had my orientation there and have volunteered two afternoons. I've really enjoyed visiting with the elderly. At first it was challenging. I wasn't sure what to expect, but now that I have my feet wet I think I'll really like volunteering there. I have visited with some of the residents. I have also helped the activity director with activities like ice cream socials, ball toss, and bingo. It's a very positive environment, and there is always something to help with or someone to visit. So far, it's been a good experience for me :)
